China: Oil spill threatens Yellow Sea – An explosion of a gas pipeline occurred in the Chinese oil port in Dalian (province Liaoning) on 16th of July, making it China`s worst oil spill to date.

From the lines owned by the biggest Chinese oil company, China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), the oil spread out over an area of 50 square kilometers and is threatening the waters of the Yellow Sea.

The approximately 2,000 forces had managed to bring fires under control after 15 hours. Up to now, the Commission of Inquiry could`t the exact circumstances which led to this explosion.

To prevent the Yellow Sea from the oil spill, numerous floating barriers and 20 so-called surface suctions have been used to remove the oil slick.
